Remain in Touch Program

Remain in Touch is a 501(c)(3) non-profit literacy program offered at the Leelanau County Jail. Through this program, inmates have the opportunity to select a free book for each of their children ages 0-12 years. As the inmate reads the book aloud, the story is recorded. Both the recording and book are sent to their individual children, allowing the parent to Remain in Touch, bridging the gap that exists during the time of their incarceration.

Brilliant Books partners with Remain in Touch to help provide this opportunity, offering a discount of 20% for all donated books.

Watch Body of War at the State Theatre with biographer Mark Wilkerson.

Mark Wilkerson will be signing his new book, Tomas Young's War, this Saturday, May 7th, after a special showing of the documentary, Body of War at the Traverse City State Theatre. The poignant biography and the documentary both delve into the life of army veteran Tomas Young, who returned from the Iraq War paralyzed and with PTSD.
