An evening with Don LystraDon's first novel Season of Water and Ice was selected as a 2020 Michigan Notable Book by the Library of Michigan. A deserved honor given Lystra's graceful, evocative prose. We are very pleased to be able to host an evening with Don, who calls both Ann Arbor and Northern Michigan home. He will be reading from his work and explaining how a retired electrical power plant engineer came to be an award winning author. As usual we will have Brilliante sparking wine from Bel Lago Wineries and award winning raclette from Leelanau Cheese. Space is limited. Reservations are suggested. Praise for Season of Water and Ice “ The story effectively captures the uncertainty of adolescence, and Lystra's graceful prose is evocative of place and time....This is a rich and satisfying read.” Cleveland Plain Dealer   Lystra confounds all the simplistic, expected plot turns that such a (story) premise might inspire in a lesser writer and, by allowing his characters to develop slowly and naturally, brings them into convincing and honest actions.” Current Magazine   “ This is a love story of a most unusual kind....There is a kind of innocence...that has not been so effectively portrayed since Salinger invented Holden Caulfield. Lystra's style is spare and direct and yet profoundly evocative....An absolutely stunning debut.” Big Rapids (MI) Pioneer
