Catch Brilliant Books at the Northern Michigan Small Farms Conference
Thursday, January 17th, 2019
As far as small farmers are concerned, Northern Michigan is the perfect place to grow, and not just in terms of crops! One of the best professional and educational resources for small-scale growers in Michigan is the Northern Michigan Small Farm Conference, which will be held this year on January 25-26th.
The conference is a project of Crosshatch Center for Art and Ecology, which created it to "serve as a vehicle to promote and build a vibrant local agriculture community, equip the small farm community with the tools to be successful, and to be a forum for the open exchange of ideas within the small farm community." For nearly 20 years, the Small Farm Conference has been doing just that--and for the past several years, we at Brilliant Books have had the pleasure to be a part of it!
At the conference trade show, our goal is to expand on the programming on offer. We bring books written by conference speakers, tried-and-true references, and innovative new guides that can help farmers of all levels of experience keep their businesses sustainable, both environmentally and financially. (A selection of these are listed below.) Our tradeshow booth also helps support the conference itself, as well as other Crosshatch programming--a portion of the profits from all the books sold at the conference goes directly back to Crosshatch.
Trade show tickets are still available for this year's conference, which is held at the Grand Traverse Resort; primary registration for the conference has ended, though there are a limited number of late registrant/at-the-door tickets available.
