Annie Ernaux

Today, French author Annie Ernaux was awarded the 2022 Nobel Prize for Literature.  Known for her large body of autobiographical work, Ernaux is known for her intimate, unflinching stories of illness, sexuality, and family.  She was selected “for the courage and clinical acuity with which she uncovers the roots, estrangements and collective restraints of personal memory,” said the Swedish Academy.

2022 International Booker Prize

The 2022 International Booker Prize

Prior to 2016, the Booker Prize was open only to UK authors, but the addition of the Booker International Prize now helps highlight the works of superb authors and translators from around the world.  The Booker International Prize is awarded annually for a single book, translated into English and published in the UK.  The £50,000 prize, awarded in May, is divided equally between the winning author and the English translator.  Explore this year's short- and long-lists at Brilliant Books.
