Today, French author Annie Ernaux was awarded the 2022 Nobel Prize for Literature. Known for her large body of autobiographical work, Ernaux is known for her intimate, unflinching stories of illness, sexuality, and family. She was selected “for the courage and clinical acuity with which she uncovers the roots, estrangements and collective restraints of personal memory,” said the Swedish Academy.
