2021 Lambda Literary Awards

Lambda Literary Awards celebrates works that explore LGBT themes. Categories include Humor, Romance and Biography. The Lambda Literary Foundation states that its mission is "to celebrate LGBT literature and provide resources for writers, readers, booksellers, publishers, and librarians—the whole literary community." The awards were instituted in 1988.

2021 International Booker Prize

Prior to 2016, the Booker Prize was open only to UK authors, but the addition of the Booker International Prize now helps highlight the works of superb authors and translators from around the world. 

The Booker International Prize is awarded annually for a single book, translated into English and published in the UK.  The £50,000 prize, awarded in May, is divided equally between the winning author and the English translator.  This year's winner has just been announced!

2021 PEN America Literary Awards

With the help of our partners, PEN America confers over 20 distinct awards, fellowships, grants and prizes each year, awarding nearly $350,000 to writers and translators

The Andrew Carnegie Medals for Excellence 2021

The Andrew Carnegie Medals for Excellence in Fiction and Nonfiction were established in 2012 to recognize the best fiction and nonfiction books for adult readers published in the U.S. the previous year. The winners (one for fiction, one for nonfiction) are announced at an event at the ALA Annual Conference; winning authors receive a $5,000 cash award, and two finalists in each category receive $1,500.

The Edgar Awards, presented by Mystery Writers of America 

Mystery Writers of America is proud to announce, as we celebrate the 212th anniversary of the birth of Edgar Allan Poe, the nominees for the 2021 Edgar Allan Poe Awards, honoring the best in mystery fiction, non-fiction and television published or produced in 2020.

2021 Printz Award

The Michael L. Printz Award annually honors the best book written for teens, based entirely on its literary merit, each year. The awards announcement is made at the ALA Midwinter Meeting as part of the Youth Media Awards and is celebrated with a program and reception each year at the ALA Annual Conference.
