March is Women's History Month, celebrating women's contributions to history and society.  The celebration began in the 1970's as Women's History day, with National Women's Week being nationally recognized in 1980 and later being expanded into a whole month!

Today we're shining the light on just a few of women's literary contributions!  These are some of the most iconic and spectacular works by women in fiction, non-fiction, and poetry.  Each of these authors has left her mark on the world—how many of these authors have you read?

Celebrating Women's History Month

Tuesday, March 9th, 2021

Yesterday was International Women's Day, but there's no need to restrict your exploration of women's achievements and impact to just one day, or even just one month.  We managed to fit more than 100 books for readers of all ages into our Women's History display before we ran out of room, so you won't have to look far to find plenty of ways to explore women's contributions all year long.  Check it out in person, or browse from home!
